The main objective of the project is the development of a 3D model of the geological structure down to a depth of several kilometers. This transborder project requires assembling in a digital database geological information from the German, French and Swiss regions involved.

This also implies harmonizing the different standards and terminologies of the participating countries as well as their interpretation along common criteria. The results of the project will be made available to the public on the Internet with the help of modern technologies such as mapservers and other web services.
